Did you know May is National Pet Month? (Well, now you do!) We can all agree that if anyone is deserving of a month-long celebration, it’s our four-legged friends who got us through this past year. Now it’s time for us to “paw” it forward to them! Here’s one thing you can do each week throughout the month of May to make your cat or dog feel extra loved and appreciated.
Week 1: Spend some quality time together.
With our busy lifestyles, it can be hard to give our pets the attention they deserve. So, this week, we challenge you to find simple ways you can spend more time with them. Whether it’s snuggling up on the couch and watching a movie or playing a new game, try to be fully present (that means putting your phone away).
Week 2: Surprise them with a new toy.
If you haven’t already done your spring cleaning, now is a good time to throw out any old or unused toys and bring home a new one! Maybe it’s a water toy for the dog days of summer ahead or maybe you’re ready to splurge on that play tunnel you’ve been eyeing.
Tip: If you’re looking for something to help keep your dog preoccupied at home or while on the road, try adding some Busy Butter calming peanut butter to a fillable toy.
Week 3: Make a homemade treat.
If you haven’t seen them on Instagram yet, “barkuterie” boards are the latest trend and take spoiling your dog to another level. Who wouldn’t love a plate full of treats? Check out how you can make your own here. Now, for all our cat moms and dads, if you want to be the talk of meow town, some cat nip will surely do the trick.
Week 4: Go on an outdoor adventure.
Now that the warm weather is here (finally), it’s the perfect time for you and your fur baby to spend some time outdoors. Maybe there’s a trail you’ve been wanting to hike or a new walking route you recently discovered? Wherever your sense of adventure takes you, bring them along! Leash walking isn’t only for dogs and there are also some cool backpack carriers for cats that you could try out.
